Proposed Skills System

The previous board proposed a skills system for all members of the pickleball club.  As of today most of our members have opted not to participate in this system.  The board continues to support a skills rating system but at the option of the members.  The Dupr Digital Rating System has been brought to the board's attention by a member of our club.  Again it is optional to all members.  This system will be discussed at the General Board Meeting to be held on September 23, 2024 beginnng at 5:00pm at the Liberty Center.  Please read the information so that we can have a discussion at the meeting to answer any questions.

Fall Fun League registration is now open!

Hi players,

The registration for the Fall Fun League is now open! The league will run 5 weeks from October 7 to November 6 and will offer 3 skill levels: low-intermediate, high-intermediate, and advanced. The advanced group will play on Mondays and the low and high intermediate on Wednesdays. The format will be mixed and we will use individual scoring so no need to find a partner. The top 2 men and women in each division will receive prizes. Below see a document with all the league rules.

Registration will be capped at 24 players for each division, so if you want to assure your place, make sure to register right away. To register, print the registration form below and drop off along with payment ($15) in the pickleball mailbox at Liberty Center. PLEASE DO NOT REGISTER ONLINE. If you have any questions, please contact Abe at scapickleballclub@gmail.com.

Good luck to all!

Important Information Regarding Weekly Meetups...Please Read!!

Hello Pickle Ballers! As we continue to receive feedback as to what our members want, we will make adjustments accordingly.  Meetups are going well, though recent heat has prevented some folks from coming out. Many of you are enjoying the additional "mixed" days, however there is still a desire to have men-only and women-only days.  For this reason, we are making appropriate adjustments to the meetup schedule (thank you for your patience!)  A big THANK YOU also to our facilitators who volunteer their time every week.

Beginning Monday August 5th, the schedule will be as follows:

Monday: Women-only Meetup (facilitator TBA)

Tuesday: Mixed Meetup (facilitator Jerry Edelman)

Wednesday: Beginner's Meetup **Previously Sunday (facilitator Jennifer Carlson)

Thursday: Men-Only Meetup (facilitator Jerry Edelman)

Friday: Mixed Meetup (facilitator Cyndy Crossman)

*Reminder, mixed meetups are open to all skill levels, however facilitators will group participants as best possible to ensure fair/competitive play.

Fall Fun League:  We will be organizing a Fun League to take place in the Fall, sometime in October. Please keep your eyes peeled for announcements and details!

Volunteers Needed! It's not too early to be thinking about our 2025 schedule! If you're interested in facilitating a meetup for next year (or you're already doing so & would like to continue) please let one of our Board members know so we can begin planning. Thank you!

Host a Referee!! The PPA Pickleball Tournament is coming to town at the Fountainbleu Casino, August 27th-September 1st. There is a need for housing several referees who travel at their own expense and incur extra out-of-pocket expenses.  If you are willing to open your home (extra bedroom or casita) please contact Carloine Broski at 619-890-2916.  *These hard-working refs are gone at the tournament most of the day and only require a bed and a bathroom!

***The courts are coming along...yippy!! They should be pouring the cement soon (fingers crossed)

COURT UPDATE

While we can see work being done on the new courts -Yeah - I wanted to relay the update I got from the Project Manager.  They have finished installing the concrete forms, the moisture barrier on some of the courts and adding a base for the concrete. The old light fixture bases have been removed and new holes have been dug.  The track post tension cables are scheduled to be installed sometime next week.  Fingers and toes continue to be crossed!!  Thanks for all your support. That is what makes our club so great.
