"On The Court" - April Edition

"On The Court" - April Edition will be discussing the importance of pre and post game stretches to avoid injuries.  We will be meeting on the Bocce Courts at Liberty Center, please bring an exercise mat if you have one.  No need to enroll - just show up!

Discussion will be led by Jen Carlson - 45 minute demonstration/discussion followed by a 15 min Q&A.

"On The Court" - February Edition

The last Saturday of every month we will host an "On The Court" discussion on various Pickleball topics that will help your game.  Sessions will be held on Court 3 at 11am and will be a 45 minute talk followed by a 15 minute Q&A session.  These sessions are open to all players.  No need to enroll - just show up.  If you would like, bring a chair!

February's topic (February 26th) is "Pickleball Rules - Understanding Them and How to Use Them to Your Advantage".

This is the Club's Annual Holiday Social Event. It was held at the Revere Golf Club and 130 Club members and guests participated.

2019 Annual Holiday Party

This is the Club's Annual Holiday Social Event that includes dinner, dancing, D.J., raffle and Toys for Tots.  Reservation required. A FEE of $30 per person is charged for this event. 

Location: Hanneman Hall, Anthem Center

Catered and served by Lucille’s Smokehouse Barbecue

Cost is $30 per person for members and guests. Checks should be written to: SCA Pickleball Club and dropped in Pickleball Club Mailbox across from Anthem Center Gym entry desk.

2022 Fun League Match Rules / Format

Registration for the Fun League is closing soon........you may view the Match Rules / Format by clicking the link below.   Match format and team sizes may be adjusted based on participation and League Commissioners reserve the right to move players up / down in Leagues in order to have parity amongst teams.  Individual players will be notified of any League changes prior to commencement.  

Fun League teams will be announced by Tuesday, January 25th.

2022 Rule Changes

The 2022 USA Pickleball Rules  - While there are several rule changes for 2022, below is a summary of the few rules that involve rec play:

1.  Let Serves - there has been NO change in this rule from 2021.  Let serves are not replayed.

2.  Drop Serve - only change is the word "Provisional" has been removed from rule.

2nd Annual Dink-A-Thon

OPEN TO ALL CLUB MEMBERS

Registration begins March 12, 2021 at 10am

Can you DINK? You will by the time you finish participating in the Club's 2nd Dink-a-thon. Jacki and Bobby Duncan are organizing this event.

Please enroll and place your $5 registration fee in the Pickleball Club's mailbox. Fee must be paid by March 26th at 5pm to hold your enrollment.

Check in time will be 9:30am with a start time of 10:00am on April 3, 2021.

2nd Club Spring BBQ & Social at Picnic Area

This is a NEW Social at the Club's Picnic area. It will be held following the Dink-a-thon Tournament on April 6,2020.

There is a $16 FEE for the Club Social and BBQ, including refreshments. BBQ will be provided by Big B's Texas BBQ of Henderson. 

Please fill out registration form, include $6 fee and drop in Anthem Pickleball Mail Box. 

Play in Dinkathon and attend both events for $22.

RSVP and include payment in the SCA Pickleball Club Mailbox no later than March 30.

This is the 5th year of the Team Pickleball "Fun" League. Each team is comprised of 4 men and 4 women in 4 skill levels. All doubles matches. Each player plays 3 - 11 point games with a different partner. Game points are added up for a team winner of each match. The focus is on light, friendly competition for beginning and developing players. One of the Club's most popular events. Sign up as a team member or a substitute player. There is a $6.00 FEE for this event.

As the club approaches 500 members, we have re-structured the 2022 Fun League to be inclusive of all players and skill levels.  There will be three (3) Fun Leagues based on skill level:  A Beginner League, an Intermediate League and an Advanced League.

All Leagues will play from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. for five (5) weeks with a playoff and BBQ on week six (6).  The schedule is below:

7 Shots of Pickleball - "3" Sessions

This is a three session, "7 Shots of Pickleball" training series. Instruction is about 20-30 minutes. Guided play continues after the session. All residents welcome! 

Session 1: Serve & Return of Serve (Shots 1 & 2) - Monday, October 18, 11 am.

Session 2: Drop Shots, Dinks & Volleys (Shots 3,4 & 5) - Tuesday, October 19, 11 am. 

Session 3: Lobs & Overheads (Shots 6 & 7) - Thursday, October 21, 11 am.

After the session, there is "Guided Play" for New & Developing Players.

7 Shots of Pickleball: "Next Steps" Coaching Session

The "Next Steps" Coaching Sessions are small group "meet up" sessions for Club members interested in tweaking and improving their game performance.They will be held at noon on select Thursday's in November and December. They are part of the "7 Shots of Pickleball" series held on Tuesday's at 2 pm. Drop in or sign up at the "7 Shots of Pickleball" Session on Tuesday at 2 pm.

Annual Dinkathon Tournament

What's a Dinkathon???  This will be a mixed-gender tournament.

Games are played like a regular game EXCEPT all shots must be "dinked" in the kitchen. Anything outside the kitchen is considered out-of-bounds!  

Come and try out your dinking skills against your fellow club members, in this fun, friendly format!

Fridays from 4 PM - 5:30 PM is the Round Robin Play for beginners. 

You will need to be present on the courts and ready to sign in by 3:45 p.m. to participate.   

This weekly event is open to both men and women, with skill levels from 0 to 1.5. A maximum of 28 players can play. If more then 28 players show up, chips will be drawn to determine the players for that session.

Courts:  1 thru 6 courts will be used for this Round Robin.

Charity - Three Square Food Bank and Member Appreciation Day

Charity Event for Three Square Food Bank.   $10 per player.  Registration form located at bottom of page.

Players will be placed in like-skill groups.  Partners will be a blind draw and you will play all games as a team.  We will have a 50/50 raffle drawing to raise funds for the Three Square Food Bank and will also have Pickleball Raffle Baskets - so bring some cash.  All skill levels welcome!

When court play is completed, we will have a Member Appreciation Celebration.

Charity Round Robin - Veteran's USO - Registration Opens 10/30

This is a charity event (Sunday, November 13th).  All net proceeds from registration will be donated to the USO in addition to any monies that are collected at the event.  If you would like to donate by check, please make check payable to "USO".

Players will be placed in like-skill groups.  Partners will be a blind draw and you will play all games as a team.  We will have a 50/50 raffle drawing to raise funds for the USO and we will also have a Pickleball Raffle Basket - so bring some cash.  50/50 tickets can also be purchased prior to the event.

We are pleased to announce that we are now able to offer PICKLEBALL DRILLING SKILLS training through the activities department.  While these sessions are listed on our monthly calendar, they must be booked through the activities department. Moonlight Dink-A-Thon Tournament (Cts 1-7)

3rd Annual Dink-A-Thon is a Round Robin event that you will register as an individual.  Each player will accumulate points through several rounds utilizing the Non-Volley Zone (The Kitchen) as the active playing area.  Players will earn points during rounds and the top player will be crowned "The Dink Master" and prizes awarded to the top 4 finishers.  All skill levels are welcome.

Come on out and have some fun dinkin' around.

Pickleball Breakfast Club

The Pickleball Breakfast Club begins Saturday, March 12, 2022 at 8:00 am.

Come enjoy pickleball and a breakfast snack with your fellow players.  Tables will be set up outside the pickleball courts beginning at 8:00am.  Offerings include fresh coffee, water, Muffins, pastries, energy and granola bars, and fresh fruit.

The Pickleball Club is not paying for this event and costs will be covered by your donations to the Breakfast Club.

We intend to set up the Breakfast Club on the first Saturday of the month going forward.

Pickleball Buy Swap Sell

The Saturday “On The Court” for December will be on the 16th at 11AM on courts 9-12. Rather than doing a presentation on a topic, we will be hosting a Pickleball Swap Meet. This will give our members an opportunity to swap, buy, sell any of those pickleball items you have hanging around the house that you are not using. This will include unwanted gear (bags, balls, etc.). All transactions must be from club members to club members. The club is hosting this event and is not involved in any of the individual transactions.

Pickleball Fundamentals for Beginners Cts 1-4

This is a three session training series for new and developing players.  Instruction is 30-45 minutes followed by practice sessions for an additional 45 minutes.  The sessions will be led by Larry Strumwasser who is an IPTPA Level 1 Certified Pickleball Teaching Instructor with club's teaching staff assisting.

Pickleball Marathon Charity Event

We are planning a gigantic pickleball marathon event to benefit three large charities on October 1st. It will be held on all of the SCA courts.  Participants will get to play with a number of different partners over the 7 hour event from 12 noon to 7 pm. Participants will be asked to collect charity pledges to benefit the charities from a variety of local sponsors.

Pickleball Mixer - Shoe Drive (Cts 1-8) 6-9pm

Saturday, May 21st  

Start cleaning out your closets of your unwanted shoes --- we will be having a Shoe Mixer to collect shoes for the homeless at the downtown outdoor shelter.

This will be a non-competitive Pickleball Mixer with food!  How much better can you get?  Play will be from 6-9pm - you can come play a little or come play a lot, make some new friends and have some fun.  Bring some finger food to share and your own drinks.

PickleBOO Mixed Social Round Robin (Cts 1-11)

Social Round Robin for all skill levels - no partners needed!   10 minute timed games - accumulating tokens along the way.  Prizes awarded for the top 3 finishers and the best costume.

The club will be providing sandwiches - please bring a dish to share with all the Goblins and Ghouls for a fun potluck and feel free to bring your beverage of choice.  We will be collecting "Blankets of Hope" for the homeless as the colder weather approaches.  So clean out those closets and drawers of any extra blankets that you no longer are using and bring them to the event.

This is a fun SOCIAL Round Robin - open to all players! 

  • You will register as an individual player
  • Players will be paired up with a different partner each round
  • Gender Neutral (your partner may be a male or female)
  • At the end of each round, winning team will draw two (2) cards from a deck and the loosing team will draw one (1) card from the deck
  • Two winners will be determined at the conclusion of all rounds based on your cards

Scramble for Ukraine Fundraiser Cts 1-8

Monday, April 4th - 11:30a - 2p  Registration is open!

Scramble for Ukraine Fundraiser will be a Round Robin for all skill levels.  Each player will receive a number and we will do a fun Round Robin with 12 minute timed games.  All players are requested to dress in Yellow / Blue in support of the Ukrainian citizens.  Entry fee will be $10 and 100% of the proceeds will be donated to Chef Jose Andres World Central Kitchen.  This organization provides meals in response to humanitarian crisis.

Winter Team "Fun" League

This is the 3rd season of the Team Pickleball "Fun" League. Each team is comprised of 4 men and 4 women in 4 skill levels. All doubles matches. Each player plays 3 - 11 point games with a different partner. Game points are added up for a team winner of each match. The focus is on light, friendly competition for beginning and developing players. One of the Club's most popular events. Sign up as a team member or a substitute player. There is a $6.00 FEE for this event.

Women's Doubles - Tournament (Cts 1-8)

Annual Women's Doubles Tournament - format is a Round Robin.  You will play each team in your bracket at least once.  Teams will be grouped into like skills.  Since it is Breast Cancer Awareness Month - asking that all players deck themselves out in PINK !

Registration closes on Sunday, October 9th at 5pm.

LADIES SPRING FLING TOURNAMENT – Registration opens April 1 and closes April 15.  Three skill levels: low -intermediate; high-intermediate and advanced.  This will be a ROUND ROBIN format with individual scoring.   Prizes will be awarded for the top two players at each level. In case of a tie, there will be a final play-off to determine a champion.  Waitlist will be established in case of cancellations.

Women's Social Luncheon - May 14th (Cts 1-8)

REGISTRATION IS OPEN!

This event will be celebrating the SCA Women of Pickleball with a Social Round Robin and a Luncheon.  

You must register for the event as participants will be limited.  No registration fee and all skill levels are welcome!
